How do I create a book?

Once you've added at least one entry to your account, you'll be able to to create books. From your dashboard, just click the Create Book link towards the upper right to start the book wizard.

How do I select/sort the entries & photos to put in my book?
-
During the book wizard, you will be able to select the entries to include. You can also click the photo icon for an entry to choose the individual photos you want.
By default, your selected entries will be added in date order. To view or change this, just click the Sort Selected tab.

Will I be able to change the selections I make in the wizard?

Yes. All selections you make in the wizard can be changed while editing your book. You'll also be able to add more chapters at any time (or remove them).

What languages do you support?

Besides English, our books can handle any European language (incl. Russian). Other languages are not officially supported.

How do I save my book?

Once your book is created, it is saved to your account and will appear in your account dashboard. As you review and edit your book, any changes you make are saved automatically. You can return to your Drop the World account any time and pick up where you left off.

If I edit content in my book, will it affect my entries?

No. Once a book is created, it is not linked to any of your entries. This allows you to edit your book without affecting any of your other data.

How do I edit my book once it's created?

You will be taken to the Book Overview screen after completing the wizard or opening a book from your dashboard. The Book Overview screen will guide you through the steps to edit your book and cover.

I'm updating a layout and it seems the page in my book doesn't exactly match the layout preview I selected. Why?

Photos come in all shapes and sizes - some may be panoramic, others may be square. The layout previews show the area designated for a photo, but your actual photo will be placed so that it fits in the area without having to be cropped.
The layout previews also show the text areas as they'd look when completely filled. Your page may have a different amount of text.

What type of images can I use in my book?

All images used in your book must be in .JPG format.

Can I change the position/alignment of a photo on its layout?

You can change these options for your cover photos, but photos on individual pages will use the default values for the selected layout.

What is the Upload Tray?
-
While editing page layouts and your cover, you'll have access to all the images stored in your entries. If you want to use a photo that you haven't yet saved in an entry, you can just go to the Upload Tray and add it from there. An image will remain in the Upload Tray until you remove it.

Does publishing my book mean that others can see it?

No. It just creates a print-ready version of the book and saves it to your account. Your book can then be added to your cart whenever you're ready to order it. This allows you to include multiple books in the same order and also re-order a book at any time.

Can I continue editing my book once I publish it?

Yes. If you want, you can continue to make changes and publish multiple versions of the same book.

Can I edit a published book?

No. However, you can continue to edit the active book it was based on and then publish a new version of it.

Can I delete a published book?

Yes, published books can be deleted at any time.

Why am I seeing warnings when trying to publish my book?
-
Before you can publish a book, we have to perform certain checks - for example, all books require at least 20 pages. Most of the items are self-explanatory and easy to resolve, but feel free to contact us with any questions.

My photos were taken on a good camera, why am I being warned that they exceed their max print size?
-
These are probably photos you have imported. Other sites don't normally store photos at their full quality. When you upload a photo to one of these sites, the image is reduced in size so it can be viewed faster on the web. These reduced-quality versions are what we receive.
Most imported photos can still be printed at a nice size, but they may not be able to use the layouts with the biggest photos. Printing a photo requires a much higher resolution than a computer screen does, so you may even find that the image looks perfectly fine in your preview - but trust us, any image printed too large will not look good.
If you have the images saved from your camera, you can always upload them to your Drop the World account and use the originals instead of the imported versions.

Do I have to fix the warnings in order to publish my book?

Yes, we require all warnings to be resolved before a book can be published. We're also here to help - feel free to contact us with any questions.

Why is "book preview" written across my PDF?

This watermark is applied to book PDF previews only and will not appear in your printed book.

Why are there blank pages in my preview?

A blank page is probably just the reverse side of your Title Page or Profile. These are required and cannot be deleted.
